Fullstack Development with Node.js

Get your first real taste of fullstack web development before committing to a full bootcamp. This course teaches you how to build complete, server-rendered web applications with Node.js and Express, using the Nunjucks templating engine to generate dynamic HTML pages styled with modern CSS and Tailwind.

Unlike our PERN Stack bootcamp, this course does not cover React or building RESTful APIs. Instead, you will learn the classic, beginner-friendly fullstack pattern: a Node.js/Express server that renders HTML directly using Nunjucks templates, connected to a real database. It is the same approach used by frameworks like Django and Flask, giving you a gentler, more complete picture of how a web request becomes a rendered page before you tackle the added complexity of a separate frontend and API layer.

You will learn to structure Node.js projects, build reusable page layouts with Nunjucks blocks, includes and macros, style responsive interfaces with HTML5, CSS3 and Tailwind CSS, and connect your application to a PostgreSQL database for real data persistence.

This course is designed as a stepping stone. If you complete it and want to go further, into building single-page applications with React, consuming and designing RESTful APIs and working with a modern separated frontend/backend architecture, our PERN Stack bootcamp is the natural next step.
